Our work in passive solar heating has lead us to appreciate the beauty of passive acoustics. Passive acoustics design integrates the geometry and dimensions of the space, the building materials selected for the space and furnishings, as well as the use of the space, to establish the design. This enables the surfaces of the space to reinforce the sound. We have incorporated the passive acoustics concept into many of our projects, incuding sanctuary, auditorium, lecture hall, cafetorium, music room, conference room and classroom applications. We have used the concept to direct unwanted sounds, such as outside air conditioning chillers, away from the building.
